The future of street furniture: smart solar benches
For over 40 years, BENKERT BÄNKE has been developing and producing high-quality street furniture with a focus on stainless steel in its best form. Our aim has never been to produce street furniture made of concrete or molds – but to design well thought-out, durable solutions made of stainless steel that are geared to the real needs of our customers. We know these needs – and are constantly developing ourselves further. Our passion for good design characterizes each of our products.
By using an XXL 3D printer, we are opening up new creative freedom: Shapes that would be almost impossible or very costly to realize with conventional materials or production methods can now be implemented precisely, efficiently and sustainably. Our aim is to combine aesthetic design with functional benefits – robust, durable and timeless.
What looks like a sculptural installation at first glance is actually a highly functional piece of furniture: ONTIGO 10, the 3D-printed modular bench. It replaces classic street furniture made of concrete or elaborate mold construction and shows how modern design, sustainability and efficiency work together today.

Printed from
100% recycled industrial films
The printing material used consists of 100% recycled industrial films, combined with glass fiber for maximum stability. The components are complemented by powder-coated stainless steel components that bring precision, even more design and durability to the system.
The connecting elements made of powder-coated stainless steel combine our decades of expertise in stainless steel processing with the innovative properties of 3D printing.

Quick assembly
Despite their size, the printed street furniture is extremely light and robust. A component that weighs just 177 kg in 3D printing would weigh around 3,800 kg if made from concrete.
This low weight makes ONTIGO particularly versatile – especially in places where conventional materials cannot be used for structural or logistical reasons. Each module is designed so that it can be transported with a forklift truck.
Assembly is usually carried out by two people in one day – without any heavy-duty crane or special equipment.
This saves time, resources and reduces overall costs.

Expandable
ONTIGO 10 consists of 21 standard elements that can be freely combined. Individual radii are also possible.
Stainless steel connections ensure stable, adhesive-free assembly, floor anchoring and flexible expandability.
They combine our decades of expertise in stainless steel processing with the innovative properties of 3D printing. The stainless steel elements not only enable secure floor anchoring, but also connect the individual modules stably and permanently.
ONTIGO 10 has a modular design and can be extended or individual elements replaced as required.
Additional elements such as planters, armrests or integrated tables can be seamlessly integrated.
LIGHTWEIGHT
BUT EXTREMELY STABLE
ONTIGO 10 combines light weight with enormous stability. The components are vandal-proof, UV-resistant and extremely robust – developed for the highest demands in urban areas. This makes them ideal not only for highly frequented locations, but also for statically sensitive areas such as roof terraces.

Exceptional
surface
The grooved surface creates a lively play of light, emphasizes the organic shapes and gives each element a special depth. It is pleasantly matt, has a high-quality feel and is functional at the same time.
Thanks to integrated drainage, rainwater flows off in a targeted manner, taking dirt particles with it – making the bench virtually self-cleaning. Other dirt can simply be removed with water.

Innovative design and countless color options
ONTIGO products can be used both outdoors and indoors – wherever design meets functionality and light weight and easy handling are required.
Whether on squares, promenades or in spacious foyers and on roof terraces: The high-quality materiality unfolds its effect in any environment. For outdoor use, we also offer the mixed grey color variant. It gives the already extremely hard-wearing surface a particularly dirt-resistant appearance – ideal for highly frequented areas in public spaces.
Three colors Three characters
ONTIGO elements are available in three subtle basic colors: white, anthracite and mixed grey.
All variants impress with their grooved, matt surface with a pleasant feel – easy to clean, robust and ideal for long-term use.
We particularly recommend mixed Grey for outdoor areas: The iridescent color tone provides visual depth, effectively conceals dirt and makes the already resistant surface even less susceptible to vandalism and everyday use. The stainless steel components can be individually coated – with over 8,500 available shades from our in-house colors and common color standards such as RAL, NCS or Pantone.

3D printing in large format
Design without limits
In contrast to conventional modular benches of this size made of concrete, which are manufactured using casting molds and high logistical effort, ONTIGO 10 is produced using the XXL 3D printing process. Layer by layer, the segment bodies are constructed from 100% recycled plastic.
The result: flowing shapes, organic designs and an unmistakable look – without any mold making.
We produce in pilot series and therefore individual customizations are also possible.
